Description

This Bacon Mushroom Swiss Cheese Meatloaf is a hearty, flavorful dish that takes traditional meatloaf to a whole new level. The rich combination of ground beef, pork, crispy bacon, Swiss cheese, and finely chopped mushrooms is complemented by a sweet and tangy ketchup-brown sugar glaze. It’s the perfect meal for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef

  • 1 lb ground pork

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ cup milk

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded

  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped

  • ¼ cup ketchup

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Prepare Meatloaf Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully combined.

  3. Add Cheese & Bacon: Fold in the shredded Swiss cheese and crumbled bacon.

  4. Form Meatloaf: Transfer the mixture to a greased loaf pan. Press the mixture firmly to shape the loaf.

  5. Prepare Topping: In a small bowl, mix ketchup and brown sugar. Spread the topping evenly over the meatloaf.

  6. Bake: Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

  7. Rest & Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can substitute ground turkey for the beef and pork.

  • If you prefer a spicier kick, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat mixture.

  • Make sure to let the meatloaf rest after baking to allow the juices to redistribute.

  • This meatloaf can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge or freezer for later use.
