Description

Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts are a classic appetizer that combines the savory, smoky goodness of crispy bacon with the subtle crunch and refreshing flavor of water chestnuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 ounce) water chestnuts
  • 1 pound center cut bacon
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Drain the water chestnuts and pat them dry with paper towels. Cut the bacon slices into thirds, then wrap each water chestnut with a piece of bacon and secure it with a toothpick.
  3. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray it with non-stick cooking spray. Arrange the bacon-wrapped water chestnuts in a single layer on the prepared sheet.
  4. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the bacon starts to crisp up.
  5. While the water chestnuts are baking, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a small saucepan. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and spoon the sauce over each piece, ensuring they’re evenly coated. Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the bacon is caramelized and crispy.
  7. Transfer the Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts to a serving platter and serve them warm.

Notes

Serve with creamy ranch dressing or tangy honey mustard for dipping.
