Description

Baked Chicken Stroganoff is a delightful twist on the classic Russian dish that’s sure to become a new family favorite. This creamy, savory casserole combines tender chicken, mushrooms, and a rich stroganoff-inspired sauce, all baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 10.5 ounce cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken chunks and cook until they are lightly browned on all sides. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the onions and mushrooms. Cook them until they are soft and the onions are translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir well to coat. Cook for a couple of minutes to get rid of the raw flour taste.
  5. Gradually add the chicken broth, stirring constantly until the mixture starts to thicken. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet and mix everything well. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  7. Bake the Baked Chicken Stroganoff in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce is bubbly.
  8. Once out of the oven, let the dish sit for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

To ensure your Baked Chicken Stroganoff turns out perfectly, opt for high-quality, fresh ingredients. You can use plain Greek yogurt or cream cheese as a substitute for sour cream.
