Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
2. Mix in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
5. Gently fold the chocolate chips into the dough.
6. Cover the dough and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours.
7. Preheat your oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Scoop rounded tablespoon of dough onto the prepared sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 9-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chilling the dough is essential for preventing excessive spreading and developing a rich flavor. Avoid overmixing the dough to prevent tough cookies.
