Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pound sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 8 ounce medium pasta shells
  • 2 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta water, then drain and set the shells aside.
  2. Pat the steak cubes dry with paper towels, then toss them with the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Sear the steak bites in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, until a nice crust forms. In the final minute, add the butter and minced garlic, tossing to coat the steak. Remove the steak bites and set them aside.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 2 tablespoon of butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 1 minute, just until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and stir, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the sauce simmer gently.
  6. Add the shredded cheddar, grated Parmesan, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes creamy and smooth.
  7. Toss the cooked pasta shells into the cheesy garlic sauce, adding a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the consistency.
  8. Top the Cheesy Garlic Shells with the seared Cajun Steak Bites and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately and enjoy the incredible flavors!

Notes

The key to this dish is the quality of the ingredients. Opt for high-quality Cajun seasoning, fresh garlic, and flavorful cheeses to ensure maximum taste. Feel free to experiment with variations, such as using a different type of pasta or swapping in your favorite cheese blends.
