Description
The Cheesesteak-Stuffed Garlic Loaf is a culinary masterpiece that combines the best of both worlds – the iconic Philly cheesesteak and the comforting garlic bread.
Ingredients
- A loaf of French or Italian bread
- Thinly sliced beef (such as ribeye or sirloin)
- Bell peppers
- Onions
- Garlic butter (made with butter, minced garlic, and herbs)
- Provolone cheese or Cheez Whiz
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. 2. Slice the top off the Italian bread loaf and hollow out the center, creating a boat-like shape. Set the hollowed-out bread aside.
3. 3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the thinly sliced beef until browned. Add the sliced bell peppers and onions, and sauté until the vegetables are soft. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
4. 4. Brush the inside of the hollowed-out bread with the garlic butter. Fill the bread with the beef and vegetable mixture, then top it generously with the shredded provolone cheese.
5. 5. Place the stuffed loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6. 6. Sprinkle the top of the loaf with freshly chopped parsley. Slice and serve hot.
Notes
Consider serving it alongside a fresh green salad or a crisp coleslaw to balance the richness of the cheesesteak filling. For a heartier meal, offer a side of roasted potatoes or a simple vegetable medley.
