Description
Chicken Sausage and Broccoli Orzo is a deliciously simple one-pan meal that combines tender chicken sausage, hearty broccoli florets, and orzo pasta for a comforting dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken sausage
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 3 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sliced chicken sausage until browned on both sides. Remove the sausage from the pan and set it aside.
2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onion is softened and the garlic is fragrant.
3. Stir the uncooked orzo pasta into the skillet and toast it for 1-2 minutes to enhance its nutty flavor.
4. Pour the chicken broth into the skillet and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, add the broccoli florets, and cover the pan. Simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
5. Return the cooked chicken sausage to the skillet and stir everything together until the sausage is heated through and evenly distributed.
6. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top and stir it in until the dish is creamy and the cheese has melted. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
7. Enjoy your Chicken Sausage and Broccoli Orzo warm.
