Description
Country Fried Pork Chops with Bacon Gravy is a classic Southern dish that combines tender pork chops with a crispy coating and rich, creamy bacon gravy.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless pork chops (1 inch thick)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk or regular milk
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 6 slices of bacon
- 1 cup milk (for gravy)
Instructions
1. Mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a shallow dish.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs and milk or buttermilk.
3. Dip each pork chop in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and back into the flour.
4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
5. Fry the pork chops for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
6. Remove from oil and keep warm.
7. Cook chopped bacon in the same skillet until crispy, reserving 2 tablespoons of bacon grease.
8. Stir flour into bacon grease and cook for 1 minute, then whisk in milk.
9. Continue stirring until gravy thickens, then season with salt and pepper and stir in cooked bacon.
Notes
For best results, pat pork chops dry before coating.
Allow coated chops to rest for 10-15 minutes before frying to help breading adhere.
Maintain oil temperature between 350-375°F for optimal frying.
