Description
Country Fried Pork Chops with Bacon Gravy is a Southern comfort food dish made from breaded and fried pork chops served with a rich bacon gravy.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless pork chops, 1 inch thick
- 6 slices bacon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk or regular milk
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
1. Mix the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a shallow dish.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
3. Dip each pork chop into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and back into the flour.
4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
5. Fry the coated pork chops for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
6. Remove the chops from the oil and keep warm.
7. In the same skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, reserving 2 tablespoon of bacon grease.
8. Stir flour into the bacon grease and cook for 1 minute, then gradually whisk in milk.
9. Continue stirring until the gravy thickens, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
10. Stir in the cooked bacon and serve over the pork chops.
Notes
For best results, pat the pork chops dry before coating and let them rest for 10-15 minutes before frying.
Maintain oil temperature between 350-375°F for a crispy exterior.
