Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 1 cup diced onion
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon chicken bouillon powder
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions
1. Cook the orzo according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
2. Season the chicken breasts with onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the chicken until it reaches 165°F. Dice the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
4. In the same skillet, melt butter with olive oil over medium-high heat. Add diced onion, carrots, and celery, sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened.
5. Reduce heat to low, sprinkle flour over vegetables, and whisk to form a roux. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
6. Slowly whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream until smooth and thickened. Stir in chicken bouillon powder.
7. Fold in diced chicken and cooked orzo into the creamy sauce. Simmer for a few minutes until heated through.
