Description

A comforting and creamy chicken stroganoff made with tender chicken, a rich sauce of sour cream, heavy cream, and Dijon mustard. Serve it over egg noodles for a cozy meal that’s perfect for any night of the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tbsp flour

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • Chopped parsley for garnish

  • Egg noodles, for serving

Instructions

  • Cook Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add cubed chicken and season with paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 6-8 minutes, until browned and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.

  • Sauté Onion & Garlic: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add diced onion and garlic. Cook until softened, about 3 minutes.

  • Make Sauce: Sprinkle flour over the onions and garlic. Stir well and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add chicken broth, stirring to prevent lumps. Bring to a simmer.

  • Add Cream: Stir in sour cream, heavy cream, and Dijon mustard. Let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes until it thickens.

  • Combine Chicken & Sauce: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, stirring to coat. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

  • Serve: Serve the creamy chicken stroganoff over cooked egg noodles and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • You can use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts for a slightly richer flavor.

  • Feel free to add mushrooms or spinach for extra flavor and texture.

  • For a lighter version, you can substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
