Creamy Garlic Parmesan Tortellini with Sausage and Broccoli is a comforting, flavor-packed meal that combines cheese tortellini, Italian sausage, and broccoli in a creamy garlic Parmesan sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 package (9-12 ounce) cheese tortellini
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 2 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the tortellini according to the package directions in salted boiling water. Drain the tortellini and set it aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Cook the sausage until it’s nicely browned, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and the broccoli florets. Sauté the broccoli for 4 to 5 minutes until it’s tender-crisp. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set it aside with the sausage.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium, and in the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring constantly until the sauce is smooth. Season the sauce with garlic powder, black pepper, and salt to taste.
  6. Simmer the sauce for 3 to 4 minutes, allowing it to thicken. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it’s melted and the sauce is creamy.
  7. Add the cooked tortellini, sausage, and broccoli back to the skillet. Gently toss everything together to coat it evenly in the creamy Parmesan sauce.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese. If desired, sprinkle on some red pepper flakes. Serve immediately.
