Crispy Baked Hot Honey Chicken is a healthier twist on classic fried chicken, combining crispy texture with sweet and spicy flavors.
Ingredients
- 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoon hot sauce
- 3 cup cornflakes, crushed
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tablespoon hot sauce
- 2 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. Prepare the cornflakes by crushing them into small, crumbly pieces.
3. Set up the breading station with three shallow bowls: combine flour and light brown sugar in one, whisk eggs and hot sauce in another, and mix crushed cornflakes with spices in the last.
4. Season chicken breasts with salt and black pepper. Dredge in flour mixture, dip in egg wash, and roll in cornflake breading.
5. Arrange breaded chicken on the baking sheet and lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray. Bake for 15-16 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
6. In a saucepan over low heat, combine honey, hot sauce, butter, light brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and mustard powder. Stir until smooth.
Notes
For a complete meal, serve with creamy coleslaw or a fresh salad.
