Description

Crispy Homemade McDonalds Hash Browns are a delicious breakfast staple made from shredded russet potatoes, cooked until crispy and golden brown.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon potato starch
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoon rice flour
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

1. Grate the potatoes into long, thin strips and soak in ice water for 20 minutes.

2. Drain and squeeze out excess moisture from the potatoes.

3. Melt the butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat, add the shredded potatoes, and cook for about 15 minutes until tender and beginning to brown.

4. Transfer cooked potatoes to a bowl, let cool slightly, then mix with salt, garlic powder, potato starch, cornstarch, and rice flour until a thick dough forms. Add water if necessary.

5. Shape the mixture into rectangular patties and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

6. Heat about an inch of oil in a non-stick pan to 350°F.

7. Fry the patties for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

8. Transfer to a wire rack to drain excess oil and serve hot.

Notes

Serve alongside scrambled eggs, bacon, or sausage. Can be used in breakfast burritos or sandwiches. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
