Description
Garlic Parmesan Rice is a simple, yet utterly delicious side dish that’s sure to become a staple in your culinary repertoire. With its irresistible flavors and creamy texture, this rice dish is the perfect accompaniment to a wide variety of main courses.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup long-grain rice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 2 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Rinse the long-grain rice under cold water using a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear. Set aside to drain.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant and lightly golden. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir well to coat the grains with the buttery garlic mixture. Toast the rice for 2-3 minutes, stirring often, until it looks slightly translucent.
- Pour in the chicken broth and season with salt and black pepper. Stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
- Once the broth is boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let the rice simmer for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed all the liquid. Do not lift the lid during the cooking process.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. This allows the rice to finish cooking and the flavors to meld.
- Uncover the saucepan and fluff the rice gently with a fork. Stir in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley until well combined. The cheese will melt into the warm rice, creating a creamy, indulgent texture.
- Transfer the Garlic Parmesan Rice to a serving dish and garnish with additional Parmesan and parsley, if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth.
Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for best results.
