Description

A savory, flavor-packed meal featuring tender ground beef, fragrant aromatics, and a delightful blend of soy, sesame, and spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cup cooked rice
  • Optional toppings: sesame seeds, sliced cucumber, kimchi, fried egg, pickled vegetables

Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 cup of rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice with 2 cup of water in a pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until the water is absorbed. Let sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
  2. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it apart as it cooks. Brown the beef until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the browned beef. Sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce and sesame oil, coating the beef evenly. Allow to simmer for a couple of minutes.
  5. Toss in the chopped green onions and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. To assemble, scoop a generous portion of cooked rice into a serving bowl. Top with the Korean ground beef mixture and garnish with optional toppings.
