Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, chopped
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly distributed.

3. Scoop the mixture and roll it into 1-inch meatballs. Place them on a baking sheet.

4. Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned.

5. While baking, combine maple syrup and bourbon in a saucepan. Simmer over medium heat until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.

6. Toss the cooked meatballs in the maple bourbon glaze and sprinkle with chopped bacon.

7. Place meatballs into hoagie rolls and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

8. Return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

For the best results, use high-quality ground beef and pork. You can customize the glaze by adding soy sauce or brown sugar to taste. Meatballs can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
