Description
One Pan Sweet And Tangy BBQ Sausage Rice is the ultimate in easy, one-skillet comfort food. The combination of savory sausage, sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, and fluffy rice makes for a satisfying and flavor-packed meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound sausage (Italian or smoked), sliced into rounds
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Sauté Sausage and Veggies: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Then, add the diced onion and bell pepper, cooking for 3-4 minutes until softened. Finally, stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
2. Add Rice and Seasoning: Next, stir in the rice, smoked paprika, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Cook for 1-2 minutes to toast the rice slightly, allowing it to soak up all the delicious flavors.
3. Pour in Liquids: Now, pour in the chicken broth and BBQ sauce. Stir everything together, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
4. Simmer and Cook: Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover, reduce the heat to low, and cook for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
5. Fluff and Garnish: Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork, then sprinkle with the fresh chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
One Pan Sweet And Tangy BBQ Sausage Rice pairs well with a fresh green salad, roasted Brussels sprouts, or garlic-parmesan dinner rolls. For a heartier meal, you could also serve it with sautéed greens or a simple steamed vegetable.
