Description
Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers are a delicious and healthy twist on a classic, combining ground beef with fresh cabbage for a low-carb option.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 head green cabbage, cut into 1-inch slices
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the cabbage slices on the prepared baking sheet, brush them with olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Bake for 10 minutes.
- While the cabbage is roasting, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Gently mix until evenly distributed.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and place a mound of the beef mixture on each cabbage slice, pressing it into a patty shape. Spread a small amount of mayonnaise and Dijon mustard over each patty, then top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the burgers rest for 5 minutes, then serve hot.
Notes
These burgers can be served with roasted sweet potato wedges, a fresh garden salad, or creamy coleslaw. Experiment with different cheese options or toppings like sliced avocado or pickled onions.
