Description

Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers are a delicious and healthy twist on a classic, combining ground beef with fresh cabbage for a low-carb option.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head green cabbage, cut into 1-inch slices
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the cabbage slices on the prepared baking sheet, brush them with olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Bake for 10 minutes.
  3. While the cabbage is roasting, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Gently mix until evenly distributed.
  4. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and place a mound of the beef mixture on each cabbage slice, pressing it into a patty shape. Spread a small amount of mayonnaise and Dijon mustard over each patty, then top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Let the burgers rest for 5 minutes, then serve hot.

Notes

These burgers can be served with roasted sweet potato wedges, a fresh garden salad, or creamy coleslaw. Experiment with different cheese options or toppings like sliced avocado or pickled onions.
