Description
Peanut Butter Pie is a classic American dessert that’s sure to delight your taste buds. This creamy, decadent treat combines the rich, nutty flavors of peanut butter with a crisp Oreo crust and a silky chocolate ganache topping.
Ingredients
- 22 Oreo cookies
- 5 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 6 ounce semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream, cold
- 8 ounce full-fat brick cream cheese, softened
- 1 and 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup Reese’s Pieces, crushed
- 1/4 cup chopped peanuts
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a food processor, pulse the Oreo cookies until they’re finely ground. Mix the Oreo crumbs with the melted butter until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of a pie dish to form an even crust. Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then remove it from the oven and let it cool completely.
2. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove the pan from the heat and pour the cream over the chopped semi-sweet chocolate in a bowl. Let the mixture sit for 2 minutes, then stir until the chocolate is fully melted and the ganache is smooth and glossy. Allow the ganache to cool to room temperature before using.
3. In a large bowl, beat the cold heavy cream, softened cream cheese, peanut butter, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract together until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure even mixing.
4. Pour the peanut butter filling into the cooled Oreo crust, spreading it evenly. Drizzle the cooled ganache over the top of the filling, gently spreading it to cover the surface. Refrigerate the pie for at least 6 hours, or overnight, to allow it to set properly.
Notes
To ensure your Peanut Butter Pie turns out perfectly every time, keep these tips in mind:
Make sure to fully bake the Oreo crust and let it cool completely before adding the filling. This will prevent a soggy crust.
When making the ganache, be patient and stir the mixture slowly and gently to prevent air bubbles from forming. This will result in a glossy, silky-smooth topping.
For the best texture, be sure to whip the peanut butter filling until it’s light and fluffy. Overbeating can cause the filling to become dense and heavy.
