Description
Imagine the mouthwatering flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak, wrapped up in a warm, cheesy breadstick. This irresistible recipe combines tender steak, sautéed veggies, and melted mozzarella, all nestled inside a golden, buttery breadstick.
Ingredients
- Pizza dough or breadstick dough
- Thinly sliced steak
- Onions and bell peppers
- Mozzarella cheese
- Garlic powder
- Salt
- Pepper
- Olive oil
- Melted butter
- Dried parsley (optional)
- Marinara or cheese sauce (optional)
Instructions
1. Start by heating the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the onions and bell peppers until they’re soft and tender. Then, add the thinly sliced steak, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and cook until the steak is done. Let the steak and veggie mixture cool slightly before assembling the breadsticks.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza or breadstick dough into a rectangle. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
3. Spread the steak and veggie mixture over half of the dough. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and seal the edges to create a stuffed breadstick.
4. Cut the stuffed dough into strips and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the tops of the breadsticks with melted butter. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
5. Garnish the warm Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Cheesy Breadsticks with a sprinkle of dried parsley, if desired. Serve them with your favorite marinara or cheese sauce for dipping.
Notes
You can use leftover steak for these breadsticks. Just make sure to slice it thinly and sauté it with the onions and bell peppers to enhance the flavor before stuffing it into the breadsticks.
To store leftover breadsticks, place them in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. To reheat, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 10-15 minutes until heated through. You can also use a microwave, but the breadsticks may become soft instead of crispy.
