Description

Ravioli Lasagna is a mouthwatering fusion of two beloved Italian classics – ravioli and lasagna. This dish combines the tender, cheese-filled pockets of ravioli with the rich, layered flavors of a classic lasagna, creating a truly irresistible and comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Italian sausage or ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 24 ounce marinara sauce
  • 25 ounce frozen cheese ravioli (no need to thaw)
  • 15 ounce ricotta cheese
  • 3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the Italian sausage (or ground beef) and onion over medium heat until cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the garlic and Italian seasoning, and cook for 1 minute. Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Spread 1 cup of the meat sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer half of the frozen ravioli over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta cheese. Sprinkle 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta. Add half of the remaining sauce. Repeat the layers with the remaining ravioli, ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella, and sauce. Top the lasagna with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  6. Let the Ravioli Lasagna stand for 10 minutes before serving, then garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

To ensure your Ravioli Lasagna turns out absolutely delicious, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

– Use frozen ravioli: The frozen ravioli holds its shape better during baking, preventing a soggy or mushy lasagna.

– Layer carefully: Be sure to layer the ingredients evenly, creating distinct, uniform layers for the best texture.

– Don’t overfill: Resist the temptation to overload the layers, as this can lead to a messy, difficult-to-serve dish.

– Let it rest: Allowing the Ravioli Lasagna to rest for 10 minutes before serving helps the layers set and the flavors meld together.
