Description

Indulge in the Decadent Beauty of Red Velvet Cheesecake Swirl Cake. Prepare to be swept off your feet by the stunning combination of classic red velvet cake and rich, creamy cheesecake in this show-stopping dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 8 ounce cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch pan (or two 9-inch round pans) and line it with parchment paper, if desired.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Then, beat in the egg and vanilla until just combined. Set the cheesecake mixture aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. In a separate bowl, whisk the oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and red food coloring. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing just until the batter is smooth.
  4. Pour the red velvet batter into the prepared pan. Drop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture over the top, then use a knife to gently swirl the two together, creating a marbled effect.
  5. Bake the cake for 30 to 40 minutes (or 25 to 30 minutes for 9-inch rounds), until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Allow the Red Velvet Cheesecake Swirl Cake to cool completely before slicing or frosting (if you’re making layers).

Notes

To avoid a dense or dry cake, be sure not to overmix the batter. Gently fold the wet and dry ingredients together until just combined. Additionally, use an oven thermometer to ensure your oven is accurately heated to the correct temperature.
