Description

Prepare to embark on a flavor-packed journey as we combine the beloved Sloppy Joe with the classic grilled cheese sandwich – creating a mouthwatering masterpiece that will have your taste buds dancing with delight.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef
  • Diced onions
  • Minced garlic
  • Tomato sauce
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Beef bouillon
  • Brown sugar
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Cheese slices
  • Texas toast bread
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it’s browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease.

2. Stir in the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the mixture is fragrant and the onions are translucent.

3. Add the tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, beef bouillon, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together well and let the mixture simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes, or until it has thickened to your desired consistency.

4. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of Texas toast. Place one slice (mayo-side down) in a skillet, top with cheese slices, the Sloppy Joe mixture, more cheese slices, and finally, the remaining slice of bread (mayo-side up).

5. Cook the sandwich over medium heat, flipping occasionally, until it’s golden brown and crispy on both sides, and the cheese is melted and gooey.

6. Slice the Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese and savor every bite of this comforting and delicious creation!

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, try sautéing the onions until they’re beautifully caramelized before adding them to the Sloppy Joe mixture.

If you’re a fan of a little heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the Sloppy Joe filling for a spicy twist.

While Texas toast is a classic choice, you can also experiment with different bread types, such as sourdough, brioche, or even pretzel buns, to create unique flavor profiles.

Experiment with different cheese combinations, such as cheddar and provolone or Gouda and Swiss, to find your perfect melty, gooey combination.

To achieve the ultimate crunch, brush the outside of the bread with a bit of melted butter or olive oil before grilling the sandwich.
