Description

Sticky Honey Gochujang Chicken is a mouthwatering dish that fuses the bold flavors of Korean cuisine with the irresistible sweetness of honey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pound chicken thighs or drumsticks, skin-on or skinless
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (optional for baking)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 3 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoon water (optional, for thickening)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil or lightly oil a skillet if pan-searing.

2. Pat the chicken dry and season it with salt and pepper. If baking, brush the chicken lightly with vegetable oil.

3. Bake the chicken for 35–40 minutes until fully cooked, or pan-sear it over medium heat until golden and cooked through.

4. In a saucepan, combine the gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Simmer for 3–4 minutes. If a thicker glaze is desired, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 more minutes.

5. Toss the cooked chicken in the sticky sauce until evenly coated.

6. Sprinkle the Sticky Honey Gochujang Chicken with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

For a crispy exterior, opt for baking the chicken instead of pan-searing.

Consider marinating the chicken in the gochujang mixture for 30 minutes to an hour before cooking for enhanced flavor.
