- 4 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoon butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Then, add the vanilla extract.
- Alternately add the dry flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour.
- Place half of the apple slices on the bottom of the prepared pan. Pour half of the batter over the top. Repeat with remaining apples and batter.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and melted butter. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the cake.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before slicing.
