Description

Honey Garlic Chicken Rice Bowls are a quick and healthy meal packed with flavor, perfect for busy weeknights or meal prep. This versatile dish allows for ingredient substitutions based on what you have on hand.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cup cooked white or brown rice
  • 2 cup broccoli florets, steamed
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • Sliced green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Toss them in flour until they’re lightly coated on all sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken in a single layer and sear for 4 to 5 minutes, turning occasionally until golden and crispy. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and sauté minced garlic for around 30 seconds until aromatic. Pour in honey, soy sauce, water, and rice vinegar. Stir and let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Bring back the cooked chicken into the skillet. Toss well in the honey garlic sauce, cooking for another 1 to 2 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. Divide the cooked rice into bowls. Top with honey garlic chicken, steamed broccoli, and shredded carrots.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Drizzle any remaining sauce over the bowls and serve immediately.

Notes

For gluten-free option, use gluten-free flour and soy sauce. For vegan, substitute chicken with tofu or tempeh.
