Aside from being delectable, this dish is a wonderful way to incorporate fresh ingredients that are not only tasty but also packed with essential nutrients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing cooking wine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 2/3 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 4 cup broccoli florets

Instructions

  1. Combine sliced chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, cornstarch, sesame oil, and white pepper in a medium bowl. Toss well to coat evenly and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together chicken broth, oyster sauce, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and white pepper until smooth.
  3. Bring about 1/3 cup of water to a boil in a wok or large skillet. Add broccoli florets, cover, and steam for 45 seconds to 1 minute. Remove and set aside.
  4. Heat the wok over high heat until smoking. Add 2 tablespoon of neutral cooking oil and then add marinated chicken in a single layer. Sear for 1 to 2 minutes until caramelized, then stir and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  5. Lower heat to medium-high, add remaining tablespoon of cooking oil and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to the wok. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, stir-frying for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce into the wok with the aromatics and bring to a simmer, whisking constantly for about 1 to 2 minutes until thickened.
  7. Return seared chicken along with its juices back into the wok with steamed broccoli. Toss everything to coat in the sauce and stir-fry for about 1 minute until heated through.

Notes

Serve over hot steamed white rice or brown rice. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
