Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1 medium onion, sliced thin
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix or 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley or chives, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the chicken with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and toss in the sliced onion. Cook until soft and lightly browned, then stir in the minced garlic and let it sizzle for about 30 seconds.
- Pour in the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Stir in the sour cream and dry onion soup mix (or onion powder) until the sauce is smooth and heated through.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and spoon the creamy sour cream sauce over the top. Let it simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes to meld the flavors together.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives and serve warm with extra sauce over each serving.
Notes
This dish pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes, buttered egg noodles, or a fresh green salad.
